Shelter Dog’s Entire Mood Does a 180 After only 10 Minutes of Playing Outside

For many shelter dogs, their entire world is the walls of their kennel. Sure they might get regular exercise, but that’s nothing compared to the freedom of a loving home. Just take one shelter dog who proved just how desperately outdoor time is needed. All it took was 10 minutes to change the pup’s day!

The dog looked so sad in his kennel. We forget it, but dogs are social creatures. They crave to be with humans so much.

We can only imagine how long the pup has been at the shelter. They looked so sad in the video shared by volunteer Bri. It’s not the dog’s fault! Even the best shelters can be a rough environment for animals. They just don’t get the amount of one-on-one time that they need.

There are ways to make a difference, as Bri easily proves. The volunteer took the pup outside for a little playtime. And it made such a difference. The dog looked cheerful and full of life. If just 10 minutes can do this, just imagine what a lifetime in a loving home can do.

“Sometimes it's the little things that count most!” Bri wrote in the video’s caption.

Commenters were so thankful to Bri for loving this sweet baby.

“Her entire spirit and body and face changed from some unconditional love,” wrote one person.

“Yesssss. I often feel bad that I can’t do more, but then I remember giving them love and attention means everything,” chimed in someone else.

“Thank you for volunteering!!!” exclaimed one person.

“That poor baby and sweet smile. Thank you for giving them time and love. Crying but love to see someone caring,” another person agreed.

Why Become an Animal Shelter Volunteer

As you can see, it doesn’t take a lot to do the right thing. Volunteering does a lot of good — and it makes you feel good too! One of the major benefits of volunteering is that you instantly see the fruits of your labor. Volunteering has also been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure and help with stress. And finally, volunteering really does have a positive impact. So many animals need us, let’s give them the love they deserve.
